‘Wembley Park, North West London’s world-famous cultural neighbourhood, has launched a new creative campaign to welcome back visitors, positioning the area as the go-to destination for Londoners looking to shop, eat, and be entertained or just to enjoy the outdoors comfortably and confidently.’
This was a great brief to work on especially as it was my first during lockdown - commissioned by London Design Agency Small Back Room.

Latest photoshoot for Getty Images focusing on teenage fitness during lockdown.
Always good to make the most of your neighbourhood - keeping fit during lockdown was always going to be a challenge but with the help of some local teenagers we managed to get out and capture some great moments.

COLD WATER SWIMMING DOWN ON THE WELSH COAST
Latest lifestyle photoshoot from the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline in Wales.
Heading down to the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast in South Wales we were looking for a story on outdoor swimmers and found the legendary Blue Tits.
A local group of women who swim all year round, what ever the weather – lucky for us we picked a beautiful bright winters day to shoot.
Art director Josie Gealer ‘We wanted to capture the joy of swimming whilst focusing on friendship and community. Nick managed to cast this fantastic group of women – I really love the authentic feel of these images.’
Nick ‘It was brilliant to work on this shoot plus the coastline here is really stunning – having the whole beach to ourselves definitely helped.’
Big thanks to The Blue Tits - Will at Richardson Media for the drone footage and Miriam Strong on film and assisting duties.
RE BRANDING THE JOHN WHITGIFT FOUNDATION
A new photography shoot for the south London charity.
It was great to be involved in a really nice re brand project for The John Whitgift Foundation, a charity based in Croydon.
They are one of the largest bursary providers in the country giving thousands of young people access to outstanding education opportunities.
They also provide care for older people and support across the community.
The design and brand consultancy To The Point were approached to move the charity forward and create a new visual language – presenting the organisation as forward thinking whilst remembering the past.
The Creative Director Kevin Cox had this to say about the project.
‘The brand concept is all about support for the community and the people - photography plays an instrumental role in reinforcing this.
The use of Nick’s cut out photography adds fun, drama, energy and dynamism across all the brand materials which included print, interiors, guidelines, website and merchandising.’
It was great to catch the students in action – we also got some nice portraits on the day.
Great to get some positive feedback from the client too!
‘I would like to pass on my thanks to all involved – especially the photography team – they were extremely wonderful with the girls – some of whom were very young and the team made them feel very at ease and I know that the girls had a lovely experience.’
Thanks to Alex Ingram for assisting duties.

STREET PHOTOGRAPHY FROM HACKNEY CARNIVAL
Always a great opportunity to shoot some street portraits while enjoying the sights and sounds of Carnival!
Hackney Carnival and the sun is shining - September 2019 saw east London’s biggest carnival to date and it didn’t disappoint.
Thankfully the weather was kind which meant a big turn out to hear some amazing sound systems and watch some incredible dance routines.
So much hard work goes into Carnival each year - months of preparation make this one best events in the calendar.
It’s always a great opportunity to shoot some street portraits - I really enjoyed just walking around snapping away - most people didn’t seem to mind - photography is a great way to connect with the community too.
FAMILY LIFESTYLE PHOTOSHOOT WITH GETTY CREATIVE AND ZEBEDEE MODEL AGENCY
Latest shoot for Getty images exploring diversity and disability in advertising photography.
Working with Art Director Josie Gealer at Getty Images, lifestyle photographer Nick David has been exploring the theme of families in a recent shoot.
Agencies and brands are increasingly aware that their campaigns need to be more reflective of their audience and represent customers in a much more authentic way. Because of this the pair were keen to cast a lifestyle shoot that was more inclusive.
With the help of Zebedee, a model agency which specialises in representing disability and diversity, they found a family which ticked all the boxes.
Working with Salt Locations, Nick and Josie were able to find a home which had a good variety of shooting options and a garden space which helped to extend the brief too.
Nick said that although the family didn’t have a huge amount of experience on a commercial shoot they were all brilliant, in particular the twins who both have Downs Syndrome. He said that it’s always difficult to anticipate how people react in front of a camera but the family provided some really touching moments which really made the shoot special.
Josie, the art Director on the shoot also gave us a quote about working with Nick and the shoot as a whole:
‘Working with Nick is always a really lovely experience for everyone involved.
He is highly skilled at capturing real‑life moments of relationships and connections in honest and beautiful ways bringing everyday moments to life.
He works around people expertly putting them at ease and delivering superb authentic images.’

BMX GIRLS LIFESTYLE VIDEO AND STILLS PRODUCTION
New lifestyle photo brief for Getty Creative on friendship and BMX biking
Nick David has been working on another short film recently, this time concentrating on female BMX riders in London!
Working closely with assistant Miriam Strong for this shoot, Nick said 'We used real BMX riders as we wanted to keep the footage and the stills authentic looking. It took a while sourcing the models but with the help of instagram we managed to pull together a team of riders.
The Olympic Park was chosen as it covered not only the track shots but the surrounding area which was great for the lifestyle images.'
They were fortunate with the weather too and had a rare perfectly cloudless day which worked really well for both the stills and video.
We had a great team to work with too - big thanks to all the riders who were brilliant and thanks to Josie Gealer Senior Art Director at Getty not forgetting Charles at Drop Films on the edit!

NATIONAL SCHOOL OF ARTS CUBA
I was lucky enough to visit the National School of Arts in Cuba – just outside Havana. This amazing building dates back to the early 1960s – considered one of the most outstanding architectural achievements of the Cuban Revolution.

Fidel Castro commissioned Cuban architect Ricardo Porro a Latin American modernist to design this amazing structure.
‘Inside we found the most beautiful space – dancing in Cuba is a real art form and here students are training to be the very best in contemporary dance’
LOVED WORKING ON THIS SERIES OF SHORT FILMS AND STILLS FOR DANISH DESIGN GIANTS VOLA
We were commissioned by branding agency Identity to create a series of short films for Danish tap manufacturer Vola.
Nick David has been working with filmmaker Jack Flynn after they were commissioned by branding agency Identity to create a series of short films for Danish tap manufacturer Vola.
In 1968, VOLA made the original modern-day tap pioneering an iconic design that has remained classic ever since.
To help celebrate 50 years since Arne Jacobsen collaborated with VOLA on the original design, six films were created to help explore different aspect of the company.
Each theme helped to tell a story from form and function, to recycling and to the people who help make this Danish company so iconic.
The pair, along with a team from Identity, visited the Vola factory in Denmark, and also explored the coastal and inland areas of this beautiful country.
‘It has been a great experience working with Nick and Jack on the VOLA 50th Anniversary celebratory films.
We had a very clear idea of what we were hoping to achieve – so we were delighted to find a team that were able to work with us in a really inspiring and collaborative way and to ensure we captured the footage required.
We were travelling for quite a large section of the shoot in Denmark and a big positive point for us is that we were able to keep the production crew small and manageable.
Jack and Nick make a great team and have produced 6 films that we are delighted with’. Identity
Throughout 2018 Vola have been releasing 1 film every 2 months – you can see the films here at Vola
